Jimmy C. Sharp, 67, passed away December 20, 2023, in Huntsville, AL. Born on June 11, 1956, in Hinsdale, IL, Jimmy lived a full and vibrant life characterized by his love of his family, his service to his country, and his desire to always be learning and growing.
Jimmy is survived by his loving family: Justin Sharp (son), Kristen Fano-Schultze (daughter), Janice Maddox (sister), and his five grandchildren – Gabriel Sharp, Asher Sharp, Ari Thomas Fano, Evie Anne Fano, and Luka Fano. He was a beloved father, husband, and grandfather who dedicated his life to providing for his family and serving this great nation. Jimmy was known for his passion projects and ongoing pursuit of knowledge, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Jimmy survived the bombing of Khobar Towers, a shrapnel blast, and multiple tent cities during his 33-year Air Force career. When the military mandated his retirement, he found a new way to serve: the United States Postal Service. After putting in his time and retiring from USPS, Jimmy decided that he had more to learn, attending school in Nashville, TN to become a massage therapist. One would think that it would be time to enjoy his retirement and rest easy, but Jimmy didn’t do “rest”. He instead opted to take his entire home off-grid; he proudly turned cattle gates and scrap metal into fully functional solar tracking mounts using only his mechanical aptitude and knowledge gained from online videos. There were very few things that Jimmy couldn’t fix or build.
Jimmy's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his spirit will forever remain in the memories we cherish. We find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace with his late wife, Sybil, his son, Thomas, his parents, Birdie Lee and George Calvin, and his brother, Bobby Sharp.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Jimmy Carl Sharp.
